My other grandmother.

My other grandmother, went by "Grandma". She was the oldest of her father's 21 children. Her mother passed away as did her father's second wife. My grandmother married at 16, had her first baby at 17 and took in several of her young half siblings. She went on to have 3 more children of her own and was raising children almost all her life. She lived to be 94.

My Mamaw.

A flashback to the past. My maternal grandmother was called Mamaw by all of her grandchildren. She was born in 1901. She was a working woman and worked in factories during her 20s and about the age of 30 got married. She had a baby who was stillborn, then my oldest uncle, then another baby who was stillborn. The doctor told her not to have any more. She didn't listen and had 5 more children, all of whom lived. She was widowed before her youngest child finished high school. She was afraid of thunderstorms and would sleep in her clothes, including shoes and glasses, holding her purse and a flashlight.
